Trying to follow the sunbeam...

Hi pups, so as some of you already know (thank you Fizzy, you're a pawsome dog and we love you and your pawrents and I hope to not meet you anytime soon!), I came to Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday. St Patty's Day, which is ironic cause all mom and dad have wanted to do this week is drink (they haven't much, too sad). I was having problems breathing, and was in an oxygen box for a while, and a CT scan showed serious problems and disease in my lungs.  The surgeries to try to fix it and figure out why would have been very invasive and traumatic for a dog my age and tiny fragile self (only physically, mentally I've always been a Great Dane, BOL), with not a good chance of a pawsitive outcome for long if at all. It's ok mom, dad keeps telling you not to justify it, you did the right thing and I'm ok running around outside and bossing all the Bridge doggies around.  Dad wrote a funny but true post on Facebook: "She lead a great life and was feisty and stinky until the very end. We'll miss you, Lacey. If there is a doggie afterlife I'm sure you're already bossing everyone around"

Mom and dad are very, very sad and they miss me very, very much. Your pawrents should buy stock in tissues, BOL. Anypaw.  I was mom's foster failure almost 9 years ago (in June), back when I was 4 (I would have been 13 on May 21).  I've been with her for a long time, and it's been just me and her since Shakey passed almost two years ago. To say we were a little co-dependent is an understatement, BOL.

It's ok, mom, don't be sad. I had the best life. I got to visit beaches, the mountains, I got to run off leash through the woods, I loved being outside and we spent lots of time outside together. I went lots of places with you.  Heck, I got to visit your workplace! Dad would bring me with him to pick you up, so I got to sniff and walk around the woods where you work. You took me and Shakey to Radford where you went to college, we got to visit Sara and Tot and Kiki in DC and Sara took the most wonderful photos of us, and we got to visit Laura and Mary Jo and Rocke and Roudi and Reese, and we got to stay in hotels, and we got to meet Marla and Katrina, and I'm probably furgetting some peoples cause I've just met so many! I met lots of your and dad's friends, and they all loved me, and gave me lots of attention and lap time and petting.  I certainly got lots of attention and pets in my life! BOL!  I was very loved and I know you'll always love me. I was your spoiled princess. You (and dad!) carried me up and down stairs and during walks. You guys (mostly dad!) made me chicken, noodles, rice, mashed potatoes, and eggs, and I got to eat some of those almost every day. Sometimes I got to eat (within reason, darn it) bits of cheese and french fries and pizza crust and peanut butter and whipped cream and ice cream (dad joked that I was a cat cause I really liked dairy, BOL!).  Tiny crumbs and pieces of these things, and on rare occasions, but still.. I ate some foods that some peoples don't even get to eat. Heck, you fed me in my bed cause sometimes it's the only way I'd eat. You were well trained, BOL.

I loved being outside. I was a big nature girl just like you! I was outside almost all the time (as long as the weather was nice). I loved my grandpawrents' yard, I loved having a yard in these last couple places we lived, I wish you'd let me live out there, BOL. (Not really, when the sun was down or it was cold or raining or snowing, I did not like being outside. Anypaw!)  We went to lots and lots of parks, we went to inside and outside dog events and festivals, we went on walks every day (as long as the weather wasn't crappy), all over the neighborhoods we lived in, all over the local parks.  I made doggy and people friends everywhere.

When we moved to Richmond, I would have company during the day so I got pets and attention even when you weren't home. Human roommate gave me pets the couple years we lived there.  Me and you and Shakey and human roommate and doggy roommate Bela took nice long walks through the city, so got to experience some, er, interesting smells, BOL.  Dad spent lots of time there too, so I had three humans around to pet me all the time, pawsome!

This last year, me and you and dad moved in together, and since dad works from home, I had company all day and I loved it. He always petted me, fed me bits of his lunch that were dog-appropriate (not too much, he didn't want to make me sick), let me sit outside as long as I wanted, walked me, petted me, and we had lots of lap time. He took really good care of me and catered to my every need like a well-trained human should, BOL.  Me and you and dad would do zoomies around the townhouse last year cause it was fully carpeted - zoomies, zoom zoom zoom! I even did zoomies around this house cause you guys bought all these rugs for me, and I'd zoom across a rug and sorta leap to the other rug and zoom on that rug.  Zoomies were fun and it made you guys laugh and smile. I rubbed on furniture and rugs and laps and it felt good, BOL.  I sunbathed in the yard and in the sunroom and in the sunbeams in the house and I loved every moment of it. I relaxed on lots of doggie beds, the papasan chair, people beds, everywhere. Mom, think of how much space you'll have on the bed now that I'm not hogging it, BOL.

Heck, remember three years ago I even survived an attack by a German Shepard, I was a tough cookie!  I even got to try crumbs of cookies! (Seriously, teeny tiny crumbs of  cookies.)

I was loved and spoiled by you and dad and grandma and grandpaw. Grandma even took me shopping for cards for you, BOL!  And remember last year when me and you and grandma went to the Three Dog Bakery outdoor mall, that was so much fun!  We had lots of good times together. Grandma and grandpaw, thanks for taking good care of me, the laps and pets and presents. Tell Adeline and Samson and Baxter I said hi and to be good.

So it's ok mom, don't be sad, I had a wonderful, pawsome life. We went lots of places and I got to see and smell and taste lots of things, and I sat in a lot of laps and got lots of pets and attention from lots of people. I was and will always be your spoiled superhero princess cat dog nature girl leaf collector wiggle butt feisty girl. Now go buy some tissue stock already, BOL. And enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful days for me.  I got some doggies to go boss around....

Sunshine!

Hi pups! It's finally starting to warm up here and it's been a couple days since the last snow. *paw knock on wood*  Me and mom went to the park today and I had the best time! Feels like I haven't been out in weeks, BOL.

For my Westie pals!

Woof! Mom's furiend posted this link to her book of faces wall, and although I am not a Westie, although I get mistaken for one all the time, mom knew my Westie pals would like this. Here ya go!

29 Pictures That Prove You Should Never Own A Westie

Hi pups!! We moved again! And a photo extravaganza!

Hi evfurry pup!! I know, mom and I are terrible at keeping up with my blog!  We have a really good reason this time though (as opposed to laziness, BOL!), we moved again! January was lots of packing and moving boxes to storage blah blah.  Finally a couple weeks ago we moved into a pawsome new home.  We don't share walls with anyone so I can bark all I want! (Not that I do that much, and mom says I will have to be quiet when I'm outside in the yard all the time once the weather finally warms up... whatever, BOL.)  I have a completely fenced in yard! I love it! There was a doggy who lived here before me, so I've been marking over his territory (sorry pup!).  I also have a front door that I can sit by and look out of - sometimes when mom gets home from work I'm sitting in the door watching and waiting for her.

Enough of that, you want pictures don't you? BOL!

Exploring the yard for the first time:

Yah, it'll do.  (BOL)

I found a good security watch post!

Another good security watch post: the front door!

Mom bought lots of rugs so I can easily run around. (I'm not as good on hardwood floors, although I've adapted really well here!)

Hey mom, yah, I like it here, can I have some chicken now please?

Did I mention the house has a fireplace?!? (It's a gas fireplace btw)

Oh! The house also has a sun room! I like to sit here and watch outside. Sometimes there's even sun beaming in and I'll lay in the sunbeam and fall asleep.  (Pardon the mess, mom took this before she took the trash bag out. We are neat people!)

I can watch the whole yard from here:

Here are some non-house pictures of me too - I owe you guys lots of photos, BOL.

Mom and I went to our fave park last weekend:

And finally, some pictures of me in mom's lap. Woof!

That's all pups! Now drop that chicken!

Watching the World Dog Awards

Mom's making me watch the world dog awards with her. I'm not nominated as princess of the year, so I'm not really into it. I am into napping on mom's lap though. Woof!
