Beachy Christmas

Hi pups! Mom downloaded the blogger app, maybe this means she'll let me post more since she's on her phone more than her laptop. And she takes most pics on her phone, so hope that means more pics to share too. In fact, here's how I spent yesterday:

Pawsome right!?!

I spent the days before that at my grandpawrents house. Grandma got me a new blanket - a chilly senior princess like me can never have too many blankets!

Christmas was a long day!

Happy Howlidays!

Happy Howlidays from me and my mom!  She took me to Petsmart last weekend to see Santa, and he wasn't there. Something about kids getting upset cause they'd go to one store and see Santa, then another and see a different Santa. Geez, kids, get off my lawn and outta my store! Anypaw, they took a nice photo of me and mom. Woof!

Quick catch up!

Hi pups! I’ve had a lot going on these last few months, but so has mom, so she’s been either too busy or too lazy from being busy to hand the laptop to me so I can say hi.. thanks mom, sheesh. I know what should be your new year’s resolution….

So in the last couple months, I’ve done lots of stuff:
  • Me and mom went to the Pet Expo, where she made me wear my white rabbit costume and entered me in a costume contest, which I did not win (to be fair, it wasn’t a cutest dog contest, which I’d have won).
  • Mom dressed me in a bee costume and a ladybug costume for Halloween and made me pose for photos.
  • We went to Bear Creek Lake State Park for a weekend in November and stayed in a cabin with a fireplace and a big porch, and I got to walk nature trails and even got to walk off leash through the trails – dog, did I love being off leash in the woods!!!!!
  • I got groomed before Thanksgiving and did not like it one bit.
  • Last week mom went away for a week for her birthday vacation, so her fiancĂ© spoiled me rotten and cuddled with me and I trained him to feed me in my bed like mom does.
  • I gave mom the serious cold shoulder when she got home from vacation – I was mad that she left and did not like it one bit!
  • I got a skin tag/mole removed today and did not like it one bit. But mom fed me on my bed while I was half sitting under an electric blanket (low setting), so I guess it's ok. BOL

Oh the indognity!

Mom bought me boots. For my paws. Which have walked on grass and concrete and all other surfaces for over 13 years. But now she thinks I need boots.  This is not even part of a Halloween costume.

Um, no.

Mom's friend took me for a walk across the street. And mom taped it. Sheesh. I didn't do too bad. I guess I'll get used to them.

Photos of me at Three Dog Bakery

I had such a pawsome time at the dog friendly outdoor mall, I'm still tired today!  I walked normal speed (I'm a slowpoke on mom and me's walks), sniffed all over, barked, said hi to dogs and people, and tried to pull mom in a bunch of stores (she walked me around Brookstone and looked at new pillows for us, I mean, her). Mom said I must be a shopper. (She is not.)

I said hi to a Westie, and mom and his owner talked about ways I looked like a Westie. I get asked a lot if I'm a Westie. I could have Westie grandpawrents or something, I dunno. So shout out to my little white dog pals, woof!

We went in a nice smelling new age-y store and the young lady working there said I looked like a stuffed animal. BOL

I got so much attention and so many pets, especially at Three Dog Bakery! A couple times there'd be lines of peoples walking through the store and I'd look up at them like "Pet me! Are you going to pet me?!? Why aren't you petting me?!?  Pet me!"  Like a petting processional, BOL!  I even ate "Beggin for Smores" treat samples off the floor, which is rare for non-food and treat motivated me. Yes, mom bought me a box, woof!

When me, my angel furbro Shakespeare, and mom went to this same mall the the bakery a couple years ago, mom didn't take pictures cause she didn't have a free hand, BOL.  So she made my grandpa take pictures this time.

A big week!

Hi pups! Hope you're all doing pawsome!  Life's been the usual lately, but this week my grandma visited and stayed with me and mom!  I was so happy to have  her around.  Today me, mom, and grandma went to a pet-friendly outdoor shopping mall and I had a pawtastic time!! I sniffed and barked and practically ran around the place (I tried to run the place, but alas, my barks were not heeded).  We also went to Three Dog Bakery!  I got so many pets there, I was loving it!  Grandma took some pictures, so once I get mom to put them on the computer, I'll post em. It was a big full day and I'm exhausted! Zzzzzz....!

Torture Lacey week. Sigh.

So appawrently last week National Dog Day + my angel furbro Shakespeare’s barkday = torture Lacey week.   First she took me to the vet, which, ok, it was time to check my senior bloodwork, pawcetera. Then yesterday, on my angel furbro’s barkday, she took me to the groomers, which, ok, I was pretty fuzzy and was getting hot quickly and I did need a really good bath.  They cut my beard really short, but mom asked them to cause my beard was getting in my way and I’d get food stuck in it. (I’ve been eating more soft foods lately, like potatoes and softened kibble.)  I do look kinda funny, but I feel good. Mom says it’s better at my age (what, princess age?!) to be comfy than look like a schnauzer.

It hasn’t been all bad of a week, I’ve gotten a lot of chicken! And love and pets, per usual. And mom’s carrying me more cause she doesn’t want me to lose weight by exercising by going up and down the stairs. Silly mom. BOL

Here’s non-schnauzer-looking me, feeling comfy:

Mom also took this close up cause she thought it looked like I had a twirly villain moustache, BOL (there’s a little twirl-up on the left).

I’m not a villain I’m a princess!

Oh! I almost forgot – mom was thisclose to being a traitor!  After the groomer took me to the back to hang out, she brought out a schnauzer puppy for my mom to hold.  Mom freaked out of course and squeeeed and snuggled the puppy and gave him kisses. Sheesh!  I’m glad she didn’t dognap him cause I’m not a fan of puppies. Well, he also he belonged to someone. BOL  So she gave him back.

Of course I can’t furget – Happy belated Barkday to my angel furbro Shakespeare. We miss you a lot.

He was a silly boy who loved unwrapping presents!

Bloodwork results

I'm just going to paste in what mom wrote on facebook, I'm too full of freshly boiled chicken to type. Woof!

Results from Lacey’s blood tests yesterday: Titers were protective, greater than 1:5, so no more distemper/parvo vaccines, yay. :)   Her globulin is still elevated, but a tad lower than the past. Her organ panel was “great”;  kidney, liver, and pancreas enzymes were normal levels. Her thyroid was slightly lower than normal, but this is likely a normal variation since she’s not showing signs of hypothyroidism. (One of which is gaining weight, which I’d love for her to do, heh. But not because she’s sick of course.)

Good, right? I deserve a big nap after pasting that!

Happy National Dog Day!

Wanna know what my mom did for me on National Dog Day? She took me to the vet. *facepaw* BOL  The vampi, er, vets took blood for my heartworm test (negative), 6 month senior bloodwork and titer test. I'll let ya know how everything turns out.

Here's me yesterday waiting for mom to come home from making my treat money:

Visitors, weekend fun, and new bed!

So mostly nothing happens around here except me being spoiled rotten.  But lots of stuff happened this weekend!

First, my previous old human and doggy roommates visited Friday morning!  Me and mom (and angel furbro Shakespeare) lived with them for two years, and I ruled that pack, BOL. We were all happy to see each other! Me and Bela barked and sniffed and caught up on our news. I jumped against previous human roommate, all butt wiggles and barks, and he finally relented, sat down, put me in his lap and petted me. He’s still well-trained, BOL.  Bela’s dad brought in her stuff, and I promptly took over her bed.

Have I mentioned Bela is an 80 lb pittie mix?!? BOL  She’s super sweet and submissive, and she’s a senior girl like me.

I’m still the alpha, BOL

Later on Friday, me and mom traveled to visit my grandpawrents. Bela stayed with my current human roommate, who watched her for the weekend.  I love visiting my grandpawrents. They have two schnauzers, Adeline and Samson, who were both adopted from Schnauzer Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic.  My grandpawrents have a big fenced-in yard, which I LOVE. I was in and out all day, just like a little kid, BOL.  A couple of times I’d bark at the door like I wanted to come inside, mom would open the door to let me in, and I’d walk back into the yard – cause I wanted her to be outside with me. She’s well-trained. BOL

My furcousins Adeline (bottom) and Samson (top)

Mom bought me a new bed while we were there. It’s big so I can stretch out and orthopedic cause I’m a senior doggy.

I appawrove.

We went back home on Sunday. My new bed was in the backseat with me, so I got a little extra boost to look out the windows. (Btw, we have a doggy hammock for my car safety.)

Bela was still there when we got home, so after I took short naps in my new bed, I took over her bed again. BOL

Mine!

Also mine! Until it goes home with Bela.

Bunny in my yard!

A little brown bunny rabbit showed up in my yard today! I told it off good! Get outta my yard before I get you! Wooof woof bark bark bark!!

Bunnies are my arch nemeses, like squirrels are to most terriers. My angel furbro Shakespeare went nuts (ha!) over squirrels.  I haven’t seen a bunny since when me and mom and Shakey lived in our apartment a few years ago. Those bunnies (and squirrels) wandered all over the place and I often told them off through the patio door.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this here, but mom thinks it’s hilarious that bunnies are my enemies and I’m small and fluffy and look like a bunny. Hahaha mom, not.

Oh, here’s a pic of me and her napping the other night:

Isn't she adorable? BOL

Ladybug bag plus me

Mom got her ladybug bag today! She says she's going to tote her Lacey bug's stuff in it. Hardy har har. You can see in the bottom left corner how amused I am, BOL.

You can get your own ladybug tote and other cute and not-so-cute stuff at http://www.redbubble.com/people/wolfehanson

A cute ladybug!

Hi pups! Mom's roommate draws stuff. He drew this adorable ladybug, which you can get on a pillow, a tote bag, or more! I'm glad they don't sell dog tees cause then mom would want to buy me one.

http://www.redbubble.com/people/wolfehanson/works/12006614-dot-the-lady-bug-2?c=290786-i-cant-even-cute&p=throw-pillow

There's also zombees (Whitley! Finley! Get em!) and cats and bees and dinosaurs!

You should buy his stuff cause he's talented and pawsome, and he makes me chicken and feeds me, and he lets me sit on his lap, and he gives the best pets in the world.

Apparently I’m a brat, BOL

This morning I was out of bed before mom was out of the shower. (This is rare for me cause I usually stay in bed ‘til she’s done getting ready for work, then she has to nudge me downstairs.)  Before she’d even gotten dressed, I’d gone down the stairs*.  She figured I really had to go do ~privacy please~, so she put her pj’s back on and, with her wet hair wrapped in a towel, took me in the backyard. Where I sniffed and sniffed and didn’t do anything.  So she shoved me back inside (not literally), brought me upstairs with her, and finished getting ready - all the while I glared at her and made small grumbles cause I wanted her to take me back outside and hurry up about it!

After she was ready, we went back downstairs, she leashed me up, called me a brat, and took me on our usual morning walk, where she called me a brat a few more times cause I wouldn’t walk or wanted to go in a different direction that her. Have I mentioned lately that I’m a stubborn princess girl?!?! BOL

Oh yah, and the reason I was up early, and up early the last two mornings (i.e. out of bed before mom was ready for work) is cause I didn’t do any ~privacy please~ when mom lets me out in the yard for “last call” ~privacy please~.

*I never went up and down the stairs at my old house. They weren’t carpeted, so I couldn’t get a grip to move on ‘em.  The stairs at this new place are carpeted, and mom and her roommate encouraged me to go up and down them, and now I do without fear! Sometimes I still need encouragement to go up the stairs. But I’m totally ok going down them, esp. if mom is still in her pj’s, BOL.

Oh! Here’s a pic mom’s roommate took of me yesterday while mom was in yoga class. He titled it “Dog, why you no sit like dog?” I was just sharing her yoga vibes, BOL.

Oooohhhhmmmm

Me and mom on the stairs

When mom got home from work today, I followed her upstairs cause I have to know where she is at all times, but I wanted her to come downstairs cause I wanted to be downstairs instead, so I sat at the top of the stairs and moped. Mom thought it was adorable, so she copied me. Sheesh.

Liebster Award

Mr. JackFreckles nominated me for a Liebster Award! Thank you pawry much!  This is his blog and it's full of adventure and digging and fun: http://barksandwoofsfrommrjackfreckles.blogspot.com/

Thanks Mr. JackFreckles!

There are some Rules:
1.  Thank the person/fur who nominated you and link back and recognize their blog in your post.
2.  Answer the 10 questions posted by the blogger who nominated you.
3.  Nominate 10 bloggers for the award.
4.  Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

Here are the questions Mr. JackFreckles asked:

1. Whats your Nickname?  Where do I start?!? Let's see, here are a few: Laceybug, wigglebutt, baby girl, sweetie pie, and quiet.

2. Do you like your furblings if you have any? I've been an only pup for a little over a year.  My angel furbro Shakespeare, who was with me since the day I was adopted, passed away in May of 2013. We got along well, we played together sometimes, and we almost always went on walks with mom together. I remember a few times mom would have to yank me out of Shakey's way so he didn't pee on me instead of the tree or pole, BOL.  We miss him lots.

3. What do you do when the phone rings?  Hmm, nothing.. I don't think mom's phone rings much, sometimes it vibrates and then she types on it. She's not a phone human.

4. Do you evfur howl?  I used to howl at sirens!

5. Do you dream?  I do, mom says sometimes I make funny noises in my sleep or move my legs around.

6. Who is your fave unfur in your furmily, your Mom, your Dad, or an unfurbling?( or someone else?)   I'm a mama's girl!!!! I have to know where she is at all times.

7. Did you evfur get in trouble using your teeth?  I did when mom first adopted me at age 4. We would play and she told me I had to learn bite inhibition, whatever that was. My sometimes biting when playing went away when I got older.

8. Where is your fave place to go to visit?  I love going to any parks! I am an outdoorsy nature pup.

9. Are you allowed to run free anywhere?  Sometimes in our small backyard, but mom's always out there with me.

10. Do you sleep curled up in a ball, or stretched out?  Both!  Here are some pics from last month of me sleeping:

In one of my beds

In mom's lap

On my furcousins Addy and Sam's beds

In mom's papasan chair

"I've never seen that" BOL!

Me and mom were walking this morning, and a lady laughingly yelled to us "I've never seen that"!  I'm thinking she's never seen a white schnauzer before, cause many people haven't, but nope, she said "I've never seen a dog telling its owner where to go!" BOL!! She was noticing that I'd walk in the opposite direction mom wanted me to go, and mom would follow me. BOL! Mom told her I'm a stubborn princess, which I am of course, and mom lets me do what I want, which she does of course. We're glad we made somebody laugh today, BOL.

More dogsitting photos

Hi pups! Life’s pretty good still. Mom and I take a couple walks a day, length depending on the weather. She lets me lead her wherever I want to go, I mean, I don’t always want to go towards the park mom, there’s good smells over here and here and there too!

I got a haircut last week, just in time for the hot weather. I look as skinny as I am, which freaks mom out of course, but as I remind her often, I only eat when I feel like it. Anypaw!

Mom and her roommate went on an overnight trip last weekend, so I got a different dogsitter. He took some pawsome photos of me! Now remember pups, I am skinny but not sick or neglected (I’m spoiled rotten really!). Mom feeds me all kinds of good stuff and treats, I’m just not food motivated. So don’t freak out, ok?

Boring Birthday

Woof! My pal Doo and her mom made me this – thanks Doo and mom!!!

My birthday was kinda boring. It rained so I didn’t get to walk at the park. :(  Instead mom took me to PetSmart to walk around and sniff, and she bought me a couple new canned dog foods and treats (dog poo bags being the exception - not a treat, BOL).  There were lots of good sniffs in the store and the parking lot, and I barkbarked at a couple of dogs, but do you know not one person stopped to pet me?!?! What is wrong with people?!?! Then mom took me to PetCo for more sniffing, but yet again, no people stopped to pet me!  I was pouting about this the whole time. I tried to walk towards people and they didn’t walk towards me. Again, what is wrong with people?!? Geez! It’s not like there were lots of other doggies in the stores to pet, and people had free hands with which to pet me. I dunno, maybe the people in the stores were cat people or something *shudder* BOL.

I also wasn’t feeling well most of yesterday so I didn’t eat much. I was active, but I didn’t eat anything until 8pm or so last night; I ate a mix some freshly boiled chicken and a few scoops of a new canned dog food.  I did eat 3/4 of a small plate of chicken, canned food, and Stella and Chewy’s patty pieces this morning though, which of course made mom all crazy happy.  She’s so easy to please.

Anypaw! Even though it was a boring birthday, I have fun times every day and am a totally loved and spoiled princess, so really, every day is like my birthday. :)

Hope everypup has a pawsome weekend!

Today is my barkday!

Arooo! I am the big 1-2 today! And as usual on this day every year, mom’s smothering me with the happy birthday wishes and birthday girl endearments. I like it, BOL. My birthday last year was sad cause my angel furbro Shakey was in the hospital, so mom said she’ll make this birthday extra special. I don’t know how she can top my daily routine since I’m already a super spoiled princess. Maybe not taking bathroom breaks while petting me? I should never stop being petted unless I declare it. Hmmm.. maybe steak along with chicken and pasta?!? Oooo…. Woof!

Right now she’s at work making my treat money, but this afternoon we’re gonna go to the park and the pet stores where I will get lots of attention and she will buy lots of treats! Happy Barkday to me!!!

Dogsitter weekend

Hi pups!

I had a dogsitter this past weekend cause mom and her roommate went to NYC. Even though NYC is a very dog-friendly city, apparently the buses don’t let doggies on, so I had to stay home. Sigh. If you want NYC details, mom’ll probably post pictures and stuff to her Facebook page, maybe here too if she sneaks on while I’m napping.

Anypaw! I wanted to share the photos my dogsitter took of me this weekend.  He was super nice, he fed me my usual buffet of chicken, pasta, Stella and Chewy’s patties, dog kibble, and treats. He gave me lots of pets and affection, and we hung around outside when the weather was nice enough for it.  He tried to walk me, but I didn’t want to go on walks outside of my yard - I don’t like going on out-of-yard walks with anyone but mom. Mom says this is a new “quirk” of mine, but she’s just learning about it now cause no one else has tried to walk me until recently. (Who me, a mama’s girl?!? BOL)

Oh! Here are the photos – I’m adorable as usual, BOL!  You can see where the vets shaved my leg for my dental, and in a couple pics you can even see my shiny white teeth!

Boy was I happy to see mom and her roommate last night! I jumped on them both and I even did zoomies around the living and dining rooms! Mom would yell “Lacey go!” and I would zoomie around, wheee!

Hope everypup had a good weekend!

I'm home!

I am so happy to be home! I still have all my teeth! I'm also still pretty stoned, BOL! Night night!

Post-dental update and “old dog lungs”

Lacey’s mom here, she’s recovering at the vet’s office, but I wanted to share updates.

Firstly, Lacey didn’t lose any teeth! I was worried about that (among a million other things, heh). She does have some areas of receding gum line. I am going to be super-vigilant about teeth-cleaning rinses, water additives, etc.

The vets also took chest x-rays since I mentioned how she would sometimes wheeze when she breathed. Relating that to her licking her paws and sneezing, it’s probably allergies, but I wanted to be sure. The chest x-rays showed nothing substantially abnormal like tumors etc. However, x-rays did show “changes consistent with a dog her age,” i.e. “old dog lungs,” meaning fibrous changes etc. that come with 12 years of Lacey breathing pollen, dust, etc.

And also because I mentioned wheezing, the vets listened to her heart and lungs and didn’t hear anything – no murmurs etc. Whew!

Oh! Also, miss skinny butt gained 1/4 of a pound since she was there last August, so yay Lacey, keep it up! I think it’s cause she’s much happier where we live now, she has so much more energy and her appetite is much better. I’m so happy that she’s happy. (Maybe not when she sees me this afternoon, cause, you know, anesthesia, dental, x-rays.. my poor baby.)

I can pick her up between 4:30 and 5:00, so I will be picking her up at 4:31 and hovering, er, loving on and spoiling her (more) rotten.

Also, I may cry from relief.

Dental postponed and playing and zoomies!

Woof! My dental is rescheduled for Thursday. Mom’s a dummy and forgot to give me my antibiotics Saturday and Sunday night. She had also been forgetting to make sure all the antibiotic liquid went from the dropper into my mouth.  I could feel the guilt waves coming off of her when she realized these things….  But now she’s set up reminders and is channeling her guilt to check everything.  Yay?

Oh! I did zoomies yesterday! Mom came home from work and chased me around the house – she exclaimed “Go!” and I zoomed around, I stopped, she exclaimed “Go!” and I zoomed around, and repeat until I don’t want to do it anymore. BOL

I’ve also played with mom and my blankets a couple times this week too. She’ll lightly “wrap” it around my head and move it around and take it off and cover my head and take it off, and I try and bite the blanket and paw it off my head and jump around and play bow. We both make silly noises.  And mom’s eyes get all wet and I can feel the happy waves coming off of her.

I can tell she’s anxious cause on one hand, she’s super happy that I’m acting more like my younger self and my spirits are higher since we moved here (I’m climbing stairs and playing!); but on the other hand she’s nervous cause I’m gonna be 12 next month and she doesn’t want to jinx things by having happy thoughts. She’s silly. I mean, Whitley’s my age and playing pool ball, and Atticus is older than me and he’s still hiking mountains.

I hope everypup’s having a good day and is safe and dry – it’s yukky and raining here, blech!

Blood work and teeth cleaning

As mom tells me often (sigh, thanks mom), my breath is terrible and I need my teeth cleaned.  So yesterday we went to the v-e-t so they could do some blood work. The vet said my blood work was “all basically normal”, but of course mom had to call back to find out what the not normal stuff was. Of course. BOL   The vet said my globulin level is high, normal is 3.6 but mine’s 4.5. A high globulin level is consistent with me though, heck, last August it was 5.0, and the vets ran all these tests and found nothing. Anypaw!  But, my albumin and liver and kidney values were normal, so that’s good…

.. wait a second, those being good meant the vet told mom he sees no reason not to proceed with the dental. Drats! Well, ok, I do need my teethers cleaned, and those dental cleaning pads mom uses aren’t getting much of my tartar off, and I hate them, and I don’t like tooth cleaning treats (have I mentioned how picky I am lately? BOL), so I guess I don’t have much choice.  At least mom will stop bugging me about my bad breath, geez. And it’s not like I don’t eat mostly mushy soft foods already anyways cause it’s what I like the best.

BOL, mom posted about this stuff on the facebooks and a bunch of her friends said their doggies who are or were the same age as me, their doggies did fine. Stop worrying mom, geez. But keep up the pets and treats of course! Woof!

Oh! My teeth cleaning is scheduled for Tuesday. Mom started giving me liquid antibiotics yesterday – YUK!!

Hope everypup has a good weekend! Mom says it’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend and we’re gonna spend as much of it outside as we can!  Just like I did yesterday, woof!

I love my yard!

Luv,
Lacey the nature girl!

Pictures!

I have weeks’ worth of pictures to post!

So during the week before we fully moved in, mom brought boxes and stuff over to the townhouse, and she also brought me so I would feel comfortable there.

I’m gonna stare out these windows all the time!

Mom brought one of my beds over so I could get comfy with that too.

Zzzz… Are we moved in yet?!?

Mom also fed me lots of treats before we moved in so I would feel comfy there. Treats + me = pawsome

I’m starting to feel pawsitively Zen about this place.

During the first couple weeks we were at our new townhouse, mom’s roommate took a bunch of pictures of me at various security posts. He wanted mom to know I was happy, but I also have him wrapped around my paw! He makes me chicken and pasta and rice, and he feeds me lunch when he’s home. I also know how to trick him (and mom of course!) so my nature loving self can go outside – I’ll go by the back patio doors like I need to go outside and ~privacy please~, but then I just go hang out on the deck and don’t do anything but watch my yard. BOL!  Anypaw, here are some pictures!

Views of my front window security post

View of the back patio and yard security post (back when the weather was yucky)

Super Princess guarding the yard (also, it was still cold)

I’m wiped out from setting up these security perimeters (also, mom and I had just finished a comfy brushing and petting session)

Me in my yard!!!  For now I’m on a tether or my leash, and sometimes for my quick late night ~privacy please~ I don’t wear either cause mom stands in the yard with me.

And finally, me on my patio just this very afternoon!

The weather’s been gorgeous so we’ve been taking nice afternoon walks in the park and sitting outside just chillin’.   I’m so glad it’s spring and I have a yard to enjoy it with!
